Earth Day!

Our little art cooperative/store known to us as "Stonebridge Artworks" had a table at our towns local Earth Day fair. I wish we had spent a little more time planning but it was a beautiful day and a fun activity. My camera was left at home so I will have to borrow a few photos in a few days.

We met up with someone who recognized my work from Etsy. She has a blog and a shop called speckled-egg which looks lovely! She lives in town and seemed very excited about our new brick and mortar venture!

These are a few of the little birds nests I brought to the fair along with sprigs of my happy yellow forsythia. I couldn't help playing with the photo in photoshop a bit. I was working on labels for our "store"



Below is the label I made for Stonebridge using some of the photos of the bridge I took last fall. I should go out and get a few spring photos as well but these colors are pretty.



My latest pair of wedding birds was sent off and arrived safely. They are so adorable! I love the spring colors -- perfect for a May wedding!

Nothing like a cold to ruin a day...

I knew that I would eventually come down with a cold. The kids have been bringing home all sorts of fun little colds to share amongst themselves. I really want to go outside and enjoy the warm weather we are having but I feel pretty miserable.

We have two new additions to our crowded house -- a pair of zebra finches. They and five other birds were abandoned at the local hardware store. I suppose that the owner planned on trying to give them to the nearby pet store but they could not take them due to quarantine issues. He asked an employee at the hardware store for some water for them and while that employee was getting the water he took off leaving the birds behind. My friend happened to stop in the store for paint and agreed to take them home. Before we were married and later before we had kids we had quite a few little birds like this so it wasn't difficult to convince me to bring a few home. They are noisy little ones though!

A nice day for a hike

We are meeting up with my sister's family to hike Mt. Kearsarge this morning. It should be a fun hike and the day is nice and cool. We are bringing some cucumber sandwiches and snacks to eat at the summit. Now if I can just get everyone out the door ... including me ;)

These are two more sets of wedding birds that I finished and sent off last week.







.... We had a lovely day hiking. The young kids pretty much ran up the mountain on a very steep rocky trail. We brought along our younger dog and my sister brought theirs too. What fun those dogs had as they wrestled and tumbled up and down and up and down and up and down the mountain. Overall they probably traveled the equivalent of several mountain climbs. And they never seemed to tire at all. I with my knee and recent ankle sprain and my oldest daughter with her ankle sprain were a little slower going up. The view from the top was breathtaking and so clear. We enjoyed the panoramic view of all the other mountains surrounding us. The trail we took down the mountain was considerably easier than the trail up.

Late afternoon we drove to my brother in laws parents house to enjoy their new in ground pool. It was heated so the kids were in heaven. They didn't want to come out of the pool. We left for home when it got dark at 8pm and even then we had to drag the kids out. The young kids were making a lot of progress in their swimming too!
